Loneliness

The child tugging at her mother’s shirt,

The pain, the sadness, and all the hurt,

The cries at night when no souls are around,

Empty air beside when fallen down.

The silence that chills you to the bone,

The hollow graveyard, the empty throne,

The internal screams inside the heart,

The emotions that tear it all apart.

The faked smile and the artificial laugh,

Never finding the other half.

The diary written in hopes of being read,

The tears held back from being shed,

The one boy with the ball on the open field

The one girl with secrets tightly sealed.

Loneliness wrecks the soul from the inside out,

But healing, one day, will come about.
